Only my trunk wouldn't hold "pavement"; it would hold my Playboy magazine collection. I'd bring them with me for... the articles (of clothing they don't contain).

I jest! I don't even have a Playboy magazine collection. I own only ONE copy of Playboy. And I almost hate to admit this but... I own it solely for the Tiny Tim interview in that issue. OK, I'm interested.

In reading the comments and talking about 12-21-12, I'm thinking what are you guys saving those Christmas shopping $$$ for. Thinking of taking pavement to heaven with you?
That's an old St. Peter joke. You know about the man who pestered God until He said he could bring something with him when he died. So this guy gets to the 'pearly gates' with a large trunk and St. Peter says you can't take that inside. The guy explains he has permission and St. Peter looks at his list and sees that he in face does, but wants to see what's inside. When he opens the truck it's filled with gold. St. Peter scratches his head and says; ' OK, take it in, but for the life of me, I can't imagine why you would want to bring pavement to heaven with you.'farawayeyeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17578277501054242356noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1272211918278108300.post-25920319460856125192012-09-17T20:03:49.661-07:002012-09-17T20:03:49.661-07:00DISCDUDE ~

It's kind of like a "temporary tax" - somehow every temporary tax becomes permanent.

Off the top of my mind, I can think of only ONE time that what went Left later moved a little toward the Right. And that is "partial-birth abortion". I was happily surprised when that was later made illegal. It was the one and only good thing that George W. Bush did while occupying the White House for 8 years. But decent people recapturing ground once it has been lost to the Leftists is exceedingly rare.

>>...One nice thing about it ending on [December] 21st [2012] is that it will allow me to save lots of money on Christmas presents.

"Great minds...", Bro. Not that there are not other blogs I would enjoy (I'm sure there are), but with my kiddos, wife, job, life, and such I just see no time. I don't have enough time to keep up with the blogs I would like to write, read, exc as it is. I'll just have to maintain contact via e-mail, phone, and the occasional carrier pigeon. Heck once they shut down the internet pigeon might be our best option as far as staying in touch. Since you live in Arizona, and I live in cold as can be Washington (we both know neither one of us is moving to the others location). I think I would die from one summer in Arizona. I'll always love ya, always pray for ya, and on more than one occasion I'll pour a cold one and think about my buddy.

Br'er Marc Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1272211918278108300.post-49848885029439559472012-09-16T21:35:51.480-07:002012-09-16T21:35:51.480-07:00I understand and respect your opinion. I think you are right that people have compromised enough, and that abandoning principle has led us to the morass we are in now.

But, as you know, I have a hard time not enjoying ANY successful argument that brings the drift back the other way. So, while Grigg is philosophically right when he bashes Rand for wanting to put conditions on foreign countries for aid, I still applaud (though not a standing ovation) the effort to crank it back.

I understand the argument that it becomes a bribe, and I understand the Timon of Athens analogy. But perhaps Rand thinks that the tougher position argued by Ron is not possible to achieve, but that a middle step - closer to the best goal - is the one he argues. Then, in a reverse Hegelian move, he can later argue for eliminating all foreign aid based on the success of his middle position.

I don't know if he plans this or not, but I like seeing Rand win some of these minor battles which seem to reverse the tide of liberalism, at least a little.

Frankly, I thought that if Ron won the GOP nomination that he would choose Rand as his running mate.

I think you should be able to wrap up the blog by Dec. 21. That way, we can all read it before the world winks out. One nice thing about it ending on the 21st is that it will allow me to save lots of money on Christmas presents.Sheboyganboy 6noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1272211918278108300.post-42741802430434661032012-09-16T16:44:22.463-07:002012-09-16T16:44:22.463-07:00TODDFAN DISCMAN ~

Look around you. This mess is the result of decades and decades of compromise; meeting in the middle, only to be moved further Left next time. In other words, "The Hegelian Dialectic".

I have no more use for compromise; I consider anything less than 100% truth to be a lie.

>>...what will you do if the world ends, 2012-style, right before you hit the "publish" button on that last post?

I guess I'll die ...like everyone else.

Congratulations on Friday's escape.
