University Study Shows They Are More Well-Grounded Than Others

First thing, I want to say, why does World Net Daily pay Gina Loudon to write articles like this while I post blog bits for free in my spare time when not busting my ass at jobs I hate?

Oh, yeah, that’s right. ...Because I don’t LOOK like Gina Loudon.

Alright, ‘Sex Appeal Rant’ off-my-chest now, let’s move on to the Main Event. This time I’m gonna keep it short ‘n’ sweet. Yeah, that’s right – YOU, with the skeptical look on yer mug! – you heard me right! I’m gonna keep it “short ‘n’ sweet”. Why? Because I’m working graveyard shifts now to make poor loose ends meet, and as soon as I finish this rye-based beer, I’m gonna get my busted ass to bed! (Beer? Hey, it may be “Breakfast Time” to you, but it’s late night cereal to me! “The Breakfast Of Champions” to me!)

Back on topic...

The other day, I came across a surprising article posted on World Net Daily. Well, it might be “surprising” to some of you, but it certainly wasn’t to me. Even without the psychological studies, I had already figured out many years ago that those who entertain the possibility of conspiracies when formulating their government/world views are brighter’n those who don’t. Why? Lots of reasons. Here are a few of them:

1: Research into World and American History proves that “Conspiracy” is the rule and NOT the exception. (Wasn’t the founding of our own country a conspiracy against the King of Eeekland?)

2: People who out-of-hand deny the possibility of major conspiracies secretly fear having to face the fact that they are not in control of their own lives because the world is being ruled by evil geniuses who are more devious and more powerful than they are.

3: After many decades of dogmatically holding to a particular worldview or political paradigm, for a person to admit that they were not just wrong but very, Very, VERY wrong about the way the world works, is simply too injurious to the individual’s ego. It is easier to laugh and poke fun at the people who have discovered the truth than it is to accept that truth and, with it, acknowledge one’s limited intelligence and powers of perception.

[ADDED BONUS: I have beat hell out of everyone who ever challenged my ‘New World Order’ conspiracy viewpoint. That should count for sumpin’, eh?]

I never needed any psychiatrist / psychologist to teach and verify for me the above three points. They were just “self-evident”.

Of course, I’m not saying that all conspiracies were “created equal”. A person needs to be aware that in their studies they will frequently encounter misinformation and disinformation (disinformation = deliberate misinformation promulgated by powerful people, and governments run by powerful people). However, after about 20 years of serious study (as I have under my own belt), it’s safe to say that a person acquires an almost “Sixth Sense” regarding that shit stuffs and can smell “Disinformation” almost immediately, even through their eyes and ears.

Below are some paragraphs excerpted from the aforementioned article:

Two recent studies published in American Behavioral Scientist seem to support evidence that the brains of “conspiricists” work differently than the brains of conventional thinkers.

Psychologist Laurie Manwell of the University of Guelph said that conventional thinkers are unable to process information that conflicts with their pre-existing belief and then integrate it into their hypotheses of possible outcomes.

University of Buffalo professor Steven Hoffman agrees.

He says conventional thinkers and those who reject possibilities labeled as conspiracy are simply prey to “confirmation bias,” similar to Festinger’s cognitive dissonance. They actively seek out only information that confirms their prior conventional beliefs.

The label of “conspiracy theorist,” according to Hoffman, aids in an irrational mechanism of labeling to avoid having to integrate contrary information that might cause mental or emotional tension for the weaker mind. That would explain the anger and hostility at those who present other theories that don’t integrate well.

On the WND website, numerous readers posted comments below the article excerpted above. Here are a few of my favorites:

CONSPIRACY THEORIST is a THINKING person who has the ability to add 2+2 and come up with 4 as an answer, while those that laugh at them fully depend on the media to do their addition ....FOR THEM!!!!!

That explains why no talk show will even discuss the BIRTH CERTIFICATE.

Well boy howdy! Bless the researchers’ little hearts! Wasn't it greasy Dick Nixon and his cohort Kissinger who COVERTLY sucked up to mass murdering communist dictator Mao to open the door of commerce with China (the result being the loss of tens of millions of American's jobs)? What a grandiose funeral the bankers, corporations and New World Order operatives gave greasy Dick while an ignorant majority of our citizens gushed and grieved.

Wasn't it Slick Willy who proposed management authority for our Port of Long Beach to the Chinese?

Wasn't it G.W. 'Shrub' Bush who attempted to turn operational management of our East Coast seaports over to his Arab pals Dubai Ports World - as payback for a screw job he gave them in turning his promise of (their) off-shore oil into dry holes?

How about the blatant piracy and exploitation perpetrated upon Third-World peoples by the American 'corporatocracy' - which includes the above plus other presidents, numerous government 'officials', bankers and corporations? The list goes on practically forever! These are only a very few of the tactics put into play by traitors from within.

Yup, I'm a crazy old uncle. I've been after my bunch (among others) for at least twenty years with the truth. They're beginning to listen. I've hopes they will soon manage to stand and become pro-active patriots. They won't have long to get it done! With all the evidence we have seen and gathered about the elitist, global attack on our nation (they) have the temerity to call we patriots conspirators! I have friends from Kenya who know so much more about our nation and the truth, it is, well, ...words just don't suffice!

  1. I found the information about the "regular person" more interesting than that of someone is willing to consider something as part of a conspiracy. Regular people are unwilling to accept ideas that don't conform with their already existing notion of how things are. For people who BELIEVE that they understand politics very well, having a conspiracy theory thrown them at would be absolutely intolerable. Yes. I have found this to be true with some people that I consider very smart. In the case of the IB and Federal Reserve, these people are not wealthy enough to benefit from what is happening, but are absolutely unable to accept that our Government is being run by these elite narcissists. They MUST believe that the President and Congress still have control over things. And, of course, the Government (or your party) is actively working to make things better for YOU.

I don't know how anyone believes it is who is aware of the decisions being made. The only thing actively happening is the destruction of this country's economy. Of course, it is easier to blame one political party or the other than to accept that there isn't a difference between them. It's all a big show.

Can I say The Wizard of Oz???

  2. So, this is one of them 'Good News - Bad News' posts. the Good News is that I'm not as weird as originally thought. The Bad news is that I'm not as weird as originally thought. Ah carp, I really like my tinfoil hat.

    I like this part of the article best;

"Scientific American reported that those who are insecure about their own intellect are less likely to be able to accept information that doesn't fit neatly into their worldview.'

Guess I'm more secure than I thought. Hence, it's so easy for me to refer to myself as a 'dumb blonde'.

  3. Conspiracy theories typically make more sense--or at least as much sense--as the garbage we're fed as what's going on.

And how do we know that the picture of Gina Loudon is really what she looks like or for that matter Gina is a real name? I think it's some fat nasty old dude somewhere cranking out articles under a pseudonym. And that's my theory about that.

  5. Oh, yeah, that’s right. ...Because I don’t LOOK like Gina Loudon.

Don't even get me started on the 'funny girl bloggers' of the world that get paid big bucks to write semi-funny chuckle under your breath posts simply because they're pretty.

Anyways, this argument makes complete sense to me. Not that I'm trying to justify my insanity (that's completely unrelated to any form of conspiracy theory) but it just seems like common sense that a more intelligent, put-together person wouldn't be afraid to ask questions. I just don't see anything intelligent about accepting everything for what it is, and just being a content little sheep. Nothing is wrong, and everything is exactly how everyone tells me it is. You know, ignorance is bliss, but it's not definitely not smart. You should always ask questions, whether it's the government, your religion, your relationships, etc. If all it takes is a few simple questions to shake up any of those things and make them crumble, then obviously they weren't right (or were hiding something/lying) in the first place.

In regards to your last comment, I don't know who this "someone" is, but I'd love to see that taste testing video. I bet that would be a hoot. By not posting it, you're letting that brewery that stole your title win. And the terrorists.

Also, you're going to get a kick out of this, but with the brown recluse thing, I'm pretty sure MacCATver saved the day. We tore apart the house looking for any signs of a spider, only to notice that the cat has a fat lip. Upon closer examination she has a tiny spider bite that looks almost identical to the wife's beneath her bottom lip, and her lip is puffy because of the venom. She also loves eating spiders. So did she eat the offending spider, and it managed to bite her before she wolfed it down? I'm not sure, but I wouldn't rule it out. As mentioned to you before, the big guy upstairs always seems to send messages and good luck charms my way in the form of animals. Who'd have thought the cat is now pulling more weight in this house than the dogs?

Oh, and what's this I hear about a broken computer? What happened? I have to share this with you, because I wonder if this is the same kind of case...

I go through computers like you would not believe, and it makes absolutely no sense. My wife is a gamer. She loves those big graphic intensive computer games, and she pushes her computer to the limit, constantly running these things for hours at a time. Her computer has been around for 4 years now and hasn't had so much as a hiccup.

I, meanwhile, have gone through 3 computers in the past 4 years. When I run my computers, I use one of three things - the Internet, to blog/surf the web, Word, to write novels, or MSPaint, to draw comics. That's it. And yet my computers always seem to implode on me. This is taking into account that I'm an IT guy with a Bachelor's Degree in computers, so I'm not talking about software malfunctions or Windows messing up - aka simple fixes. I'm talking about catastrophic internal failures where the cost of replacing the part would be as much or more than just buying another computer.

So what I'm saying is... I'm assuming you're not an 'intensive' computer user, and I'm hoping my luck with computers hasn't rubbed off on you.

STILL MAROONED ON ISLAND "NOOK" (WHERE THE TRIBE OF CAPITAL LETTERS LIVE).

HAVE COFFEE, LAGUNITAS 'DAYTIME' ALE, A TV SET & THE L.A. DODGERS IN THE NLCS, SO I WILL SURVIVE.

NEVER EVEN SAW ONE EPISODE OF 'MacGYver', BUT IF 'MacCATver' HAD HIS OWN SHOW, I WOULD BE A REGULAR VIEWER!

OUR VIDEO IS NOT A BEER TASTING CHALLENGE. IT WAS A 2-MINUTE COMEDY INSPIRED BY THE MOVIE 'ROCKY' & A CHINESE BOY. (I FORGET THE TITLE WE GAVE IT, BUT MY FAVORITE OF THOSE SUGGESTED WAS 'RUCKY'.)

THIS BLOG BIT WAS MEANT AS A 24 HOUR STOPGAP UNTIL I COULD GET THE NEXT "REAL" BLOG BIT I WAS WORKING ON FINISHED & POSTED. INSTEAD IT'S GETTING ALL THIS FRONT & CENTER DISPLAY TIME. AND THE IRONY OF IRONIES? I AM REGISTERED AS A REPUBLICAN! (TO BE EXPLAINED WHEN I HAVE COMPUTER ACCESS AGAIN - HOPEFULLY THIS WEEKEND SOMETIME. IT SURE BETTER BE B4 THE 15TH WHEN THE NEXT 'BOTB' IS DUE. HECK, I STILL HAVEN'T HAD THE CHANCE TO CAST MY OWN VOTE ON MY 'BOTB' #5. MacBUMMERver!)

HOPE I'VE NOT LOST ALL THE INFO & PHOTOS STORED ON MY COMPUTER; THAT WOULD BE A "CAT-ASS-TROPHE" THAT EVEN LAGUNITAS & A DODGERS WORLD SERIES WIN COULDN'T MAKE SEMI-COMFORTABLY NUMB.
